DR. ERIN SANDERS

My correct diagnosis is papillary thyroid carcinoma. I had a total thyroidectomy and radical neck dissection.

At least 50 lymph nodes were removed in my neck and 23 came back positive for metastasis.

I am currently waiting to undergo a thyroid scan, start on thyroid medications (as I am hypothyroid now for the rest of my life) and will be undergoing radioactive Iodine treatment to remove any remaining thyroid tissue or metastasis.My doctors have told me that they have never seen such a bad case in such a young person, but they feel I will make a close to, if not full recovery in the next few months. I did suffer some complications along with surgery which have delayed my recovery, but I am slowly overcoming each of these.
